Concert Band: Meets every other day during CORE+ (1:40 to 2:25) and is made up of students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade, but a high percentage of the group is from grade 6. Most students have played an instrument from 1 to 3 years. This group performs level 1-3 music. The Concert Band will represent Glenwood at the the annual Howard County Middle School Band Festival.
Wind Ensemble: A more advanced ensemble that meets every other day during CORE+ (1:40 to 2:25). This group’s performers are usually 7th and 8th grade students who have studied their instrument from 2 to 4 years. Sixth grade students may be included in this group, but they are first asked to play a placement audition for the director. The Wind Ensemble performs level 2-4+ band music. The Wind Ensemble will represent Glenwood at the annual Howard County Middle School Band Adjudication.
Jazz Ensemble: A select group of young musicians who rehearse one time per week after school hours. Selection for this group is not limited to grade level but is at the discretion of the director. The Jazz Ensemble performs music of the Jazz, Pop, Rock and Blues idioms composed especially for young bands. The Jazz Ensemble meets after school on Thursdays from 2:25 to 3:15.

Symphonic Orchestra: A premier select group of young musicians made up of members of the Glenwood String Orchestra and wind and percussion members from the Wind Ensemble. This group is selected by audition and will meet as needed during CORE+. The Symphonic Orchestra will represent Glenwood at the Howard County Orchestra Festival.
