All trumpet and trombone players should purchase a Cup Mute and a Straight Mute as pictured here.   The best model for middle school players is the Stonelined series made  by Humes & Berg.

I still have mine from 6th grade!  Mutes are available at all local music stores.
The required supplemental lesson book for all Glenwood Percussion Students is the Elementary Drum Method, by Roy Burns.

All drummers need this book for section rehearsal and home practice.  This in an excellent book for us to work on our counting and snare drum technique.  All drummers/percussionists are also required to have their own pair of drumsticks at each rehearsal.

The required music book for all Jazz Ensemble Members is Essential Elements for Jazz Ensemble, by Mike Steinel (Hal Leonard Publishing). It should be available at your local music store for about $12.95 (CD’s included). Music & Arts has been alerted that this is our required music book. All students should bring this book to every Thursday afternoon jazz rehearsal.
